Jérôme Boateng took to Instagram on Wednesday to wish Mesut Özil a happy birthday after the Arsenal playmaker turned 26.

Özil is currently out of action with a knee injury picked up during Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Chelsea at the start of October.

The World Cup winner is expected to be sidelined until the new year due to the problem.

But his Germany team-mate Boateng attempted to lift his spirits by posting a birthday photo on Instagram and writing: “Happy Birthday, Mesut! @m10_official #Özil #JB17”

And Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain took to Twitter to send his regards to his team-mate.

The midfielder tweeted: “Happy birthday @MesutOzil1088 …. Get well soon bro.”
