It appears Republic of Ireland hero John O’Shea was on selfie duty on Tuesday night after the centre-half scored a late equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw with world champions Germany.

Martin O’Neill’s men looked to be heading towards a narrow 1-0 loss after Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos finally broke the deadlock for the world champions in the 71st minute.

However, Sunderland centre-half O’Shea capped his 100th Ireland appearance with a late equaliser to secure a valuable point and leave the Boys in Green joint top of Group D.

O’Shea, who takes his international tally to three goals, snapped a selfie with his Ireland team-mates as O’Neill’s squad flew out of Germany ahead of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

And the FAI posted the defender’s effort on their Twitter account, highlighting the good atmosphere in the Irish set-up following a memorable result in Gelsenkirchen.

On Tuesday night, the FAI posted Hull City midfielder David Meyler’s effort following a morale-boosting draw with the World Cup winners.
