Brendan Rodgers is facing the biggest game of his Liverpool career, according to Mark Lawrenson.

Enhanced odds: Liverpool or draw @ 5/1 or Chelsea @ 6/1!

The Reds take on Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday after Rodgers selected an under-strength side for their 1-0 loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

And Liverpool legend Lawrenson reckons Rodgers is under pressure to get a result after his decision to rest big names for the Champions League clash.

“Because of his team selection against Real Madrid on Tuesday night, this is now the biggest game of Brendan Rodgers’ managerial career at Liverpool,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“You can only think that the team he sent out at the Santiago Bernabeu was picked with a view to this game, and beating Chelsea. I don’t see that happening, especially with Daniel Sturridge still unavailable up front.

“Chelsea are the Premier League leaders and title favourites for a reason. In the Champions League they went through the motions against Maribor but, as we know, they are still extremely difficult to beat even when they are not firing on all cylinders.”
