Jose Mourinho: Diego Costa is nothing without his Chelsea team-mates

The Chelsea manager wants his team to receive praise - not individual players

Jose Mourinho insists that Diego Costa’s impressive form for Chelsea this season is largely down to the quality of his team-mates.

The Spain international scored his 11th goal of the season on Saturday as he helped the Blues seal a 2-0 victory over West Brom at Stamford Bridge.

But the Chelsea boss was quick to deflect the praise onto his whole team when asked about Costa ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Schalke.

“Without the team Diego has behind him Diego is nothing,” said Mourinho.

“He’s playing well and scoring goals but the team is producing a lot. It’s not fair to speak about individuals when the team is very good.

“You look to our team and the players we brought in – Thibaut [Courtois], [Cesc] Fabregas, Diego, Filipe [Luis] – and all of them are improving the team.”
