Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Brazilian club Cruzeiro about the possibility of signing Lucas Silva, dubbed the ‘new Kaka’.

The 21-year-old has been attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs in recent weeks, including United and Real Madrid, amid suggestions of a January transfer.

Silva’s agent, Luiz Rocha, has now confirmed that United have expressed an interest in signing the Brazilian, although the Red Devils have not yet tabled an official bid.

“There aren’t many details,” said Rocha when asked about his client’s future.

“I confirm I was contacted by people linked to Manchester United. There are no official bids. We are waiting.”

Defensive midfielder Silva has scored one goal and made one assist in 25 league appearances for Cruzeiro so far this season.
