Brendan Rodgers moved to play down fears surrounding Raheem Sterling’s fitness after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Sterling was substituted in the 82nd minute as the Reds were pegged back after leading 2-1 in Bulgaria.

However, Liverpool boss Rodgers has suggested that the England international is likely to be fit for this weekend’s clash with Stoke City at Anfield.

“He [Sterling] had a sore tummy,” manager Rodgers told Sky Sports.

“He was ready to come off and then he had the chance where he nearly scored.

“He was buckled over in pain for about six minutes and needed to come off.”
