Arsene Wenger has declared Theo Walcott as fit and ready to start for Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s trip to Swansea City.

The England international is yet to start a game this season after being ruled out for over nine months with a knee injury.

However, the Gunners boss has hinted that the 25-year-old could feature from the start against the Swans this weekend.

“He is in the squad,” said Wenger of Walcott. “He can start if I decide to start him.”

The Arsenal boss also reacted to Walcott having been named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad, saying that he will place no restrictions on the winger at international level.

“He needs playing time,” he continued. Roy Hodgson is free to do what he wants.”
