Daley Blind believes that honesty is Louis van Gaal’s best quality as Manchester United manager.

The Dutchman has been tasked with guiding the Red Devils back into the Champions League after their dismal seventh-place finish in the top flight last season.

Van Gaal’s United side are currently fourth in the Premier League table as they look to break back into Europe’s elite club competition.

And Blind, who Van Gaal brought to Old Trafford from Ajax last summer, feels that his manager’s best trait is how he is prepared to speak his mind with his players.

Blind told Inside United: “I really admire that he’s always himself. He’s always really honest to everyone about his ideas and what he wants.

“I think that’s a good thing in a person because you know where you stand as a player. That’s what I really admire about him.”

Blind, who has scored two goals and made one assist in the league this season, also revealed how compatriot Robin van Persie helped him to settled at Old Trafford following his summer switch from Ajax.

“When I came Robin van Persie helped me a lot in the beginning,” he said.

“My English was OK so I could understand everyone, although sometimes it’s difficult with the accent of some players. Everyone has been great with me and gave me a warm welcome, I felt good from the beginning.”

Manchester United take on Sunderland in the Premier League at Old Trafford in their next game on Saturday afternoon.
