Marcos Rojo and Juan Mata looked to be enjoying themselves as Manchester United trained ahead of their Premier League clash with Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils host the Black Cats at Old Trafford as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League following their disappointing 2-1 defeat by Swansea City in South Wales last weekend.

Louis van Gaal’s side were put through their paces at United’s Carrington training base on Friday morning in their final training session before Saturday’s game.

Victory would hoist United back into third place in the Premier League table ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Everton at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Also in action during the session were the likes of Wayne Rooney, Jonny Evans and Radamel Falcao. There was no Robin van Persie, however, as the striker recovers from an ankle injury.

Here are some of the best pictures from Friday’s training session.
