Mesut Ozil says he is feeling fresh after his recent injury lay-off ahead of the decisive months of the Premier League season.

The Gunners midfielder missed the best part of three months after the Germany international suffered a serious knee injury in a 2-0 defeat by Chelsea in early October.

However, Ozil has been in impressive form since his return to the Arsenal starting line-up, scoring three goals and making four assists in his last 12 games.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website following their 3-0 win against West Ham United at The Emirates on Saturday, Ozil explained believes his hard work is paying off.

“I wanted to be as fit as possible when I returned after my injury,” Ozil told Arsenal’s website.

“I worked on my upper body as well as paying attention to my nutrition.

“I underwent treatment to get myself fit as soon as possible and to prevent the injury from returning. I’m on a good path now.

“I worked really hard and I think it shows in training and in matches that I’m fresher. I’m really happy to be back on the pitch and able to do what I most love.”

Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock against the Hammers before Arsenal midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini sealed a 3-0 win against Sam Allardyce’s men in the final 10 minutes.
