Ashley Young insists Manchester United aren’t lacking confidence ahead of the visit of Tottenham Hotspur despite their FA Cup exit earlier this week.

The Red Devils crashed out of the cup competition at the quarter-final stage after goals from Nacho Monreal and Danny Welbeck sealed a 2-1 win for Arsenal at Old Trafford.

It’s back to business and hopefully we’ll be back on Sunday with our confidence sky-high again and looking to win

United are three points ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the race for a top-four finish, and Young insisted the Red Devils won’t dwell on their cup exit.

Young told United’s website: “It was disappointing to go out of the FA Cup as we had a good chance to go through and go on and win it.

“[We have to] show character now and, with the team spirit we’ve got, everyone is back on the training pitch and we’ll be going into Sunday’s game full of confidence, as we always are, and looking to get three points again at Old Trafford.”

The 20-time English champions have started to stumble in the race for a Champions League place, winning just three of their last five top-flight outings.

However, England international Young described United’s confidence as “sky high” despite their disappointment against Arsenal.

Young added: “It’s back to business and hopefully we’ll be back on Sunday with our confidence sky-high again and looking to win.

“This is where we’ll see the character of the squad as we’ve got a fantastic team spirit at the club.”
