Charlie Austin has been better than Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this season, according to Queens Park Rangers manager Chris Ramsey.

Kane, 21, earned his first call up to the England squad on Thursday afternoon, whilst 25-year-old Austin was snubbed by manager Charlie Austin.

The Spurs talisman has scored 16 times in 25 Premier League appearances in comparison to Austin’s return of 15 goals in 26 top-flight games.

Speaking at his pre-match media conference at Harlington on Thursday morning, Ramsey explained why he believes Austin has outperformed Kane this season.

“Charlie has been fantastic this season and I think he has done more than Harry Kane because he is in a team which is struggling,” said Ramsey.

“Charlie’s work rate is unbelievable and he has the uncoachable thing, which is scoring goals. He’s the kind of quality player who will shine wherever he plays.”

Austin has effortlessly made the step up to the Premier League this term after the former Burnley man scored 17 goals in 34 Championship games last season.

However, the former Poole Town forward, who has journeyed up through the England leagues, failed to score against Spurs at Loftus Road earlier this month.

Kane, meanwhile, scored either side of half-time to help the north London club seal a 2-0 victory over Ramsey’s side.
