Gary Neville admits that Liverpool are the favourites to claim victory when the Reds host Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool can move above their rivals into fourth place in the Premier League table with victory over Louis van Gaal’s side on Merseyside.

The Reds are in fine form domestically, having won eight of their last 10 games to leave Brendan Rodgers’ men as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League in 2015.

United were in impressive form themselves as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at Old Trafford last weekend to keep their bid for Champions League qualification on track.

However, former United defender Neville believes that Liverpool are the favourites to move up to fourth place in the table after this weekend’s clash.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “You’d have to make Liverpool the favourites.

“I know United played well last week but at Anfield and with their fantastic run of form, you’d have to make them favourites.

“United will have to go there on Sunday and withstand immense pressure, particularly early on in the game.

“Liverpool have got fantastic energy in that front six and I think are better at United than that. But United have got match-winners in their team and I think the game is set up well.”

Wayne Rooney was on target as Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-0 in the Premier League at Old Trafford back in December.
