Van Gaal has found himself under constant scrutiny this season since being appointed as David Moyes’ permanent successor last summer.
Giggs was a giant of a player. He deserves more respect than this

United are out of all cup competitions and now are fully focused on securing a route back into the Champions League via a top-four finish in the Premier League.
And former Netherlands international Van Hanegem believes that Van Gaal has not been treating assistant boss Giggs with the respect he deserves at Old Trafford.
“What I hate to see is how Van Gaal is treating Ryan Giggs,” Van Hanegem told the Daily Mirror.
“Louis has more attention for the other geezer next to him. But Louis forgets that we are talking here about Ryan Giggs.
“Giggs was a giant of a player. He deserves more respect than this.”
Falcao has struggled to find consistent form for the Red Devils since his loan move to Old Trafford from Monaco last summer.
And Van Hanegem has placed the blame for the Colombia international’s patchy at Van Gaal’s feet.
“Falcao has proven over the past few years that he is one of the best strikers in the world,” he said.
“But at United he is being treated as if he was signed from an old fourth division club.
“I can see there are more players not happy at United. Di Maria was one of the most important links in the chain at Real Madrid. In the World Cup he was the best player in the Argentina side.
“But at United he hasn’t been able to pass a ball over more than 25 yards most times.”
United take on Tottenham at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
