Mesut Ozil has singled out Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez for special praise ahead of Arsenal’s crunch clash with Liverpool this weekend.

The Gunners host Brendan Rodgers’ side at Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime knowing that victory would hoist the north London outfit nine points above the Merseysiders.

Ozil has been in impressive form for the Gunners since his return from a knee injury, with Arsenal having won 11 of their 13 games since the World Cup winner’s return to action.

And the playmaker says that playing alongside the likes of Cazorla and Sanchez is a dream for any player.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, Ozil said: “[Santi and Alexis] are the type of players that, like myself, think before things happen on the pitch.

“Especially with Santi, you can see that he’s playing such an outstanding season for the team and he’s so important for us.

“When you look at the whole squad, it doesn’t matter if the manager rotates slightly because we can compete as a team, no matter who is playing. That’s a big plus for us and that’s why we’re near the top of the league.”

The Germany star also singled out Sanchez for further praise following the forward’s impressive start to life at Arsenal since his £35m transfer from Barcelona last summer.

The former Real Madrid man continued: “[My partnership with Alexis is] progressing really well, and you can see that in our matches. He’s really important for the team and that shows with the goals – he’s scored a lot of goals this season.

“You can see it in training too – I look for him when I have the ball because he makes those runs. For that reason, we’re happy to have a player like that in our ranks.”

Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table, a point clear of fourth-placed Manchester United.
