While the £27m summer signing scored two goals and made 13 assists in his first 16 games for the west London side in the Premier League, Fabregas has struggled to match his early-season form after Christmas.
The Blues midfielder has failed to find the back of the net in his last eight Premier League games, whilst the 27-year-old has made just three assists in his last 317 minutes of top-flight football.
However, Mourinho’s son, Jose Mario, was quick to blast the Chelsea supporters that reportedly booed Fabregas during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
The teenager wrote on Instagram: “Why is everyone hating and blaming Fabregas for Sunday’s performance… It was a team effort.
“Fabregas might have not played as well as most expected but at least he kept fighting… Showed a lot of character, I’ve seen bad Chelsea fans but Sunday was the worse I’ve ever seen, Fans booing Cesc not singing at all, I completely agree with the chant ‘Mourinho’s right, you’re fans are shite’
“Our fans are a disgrace!!!!”
The Instagram post was later deleted.
Earlier this month, the Chelsea manager’s only son was all smiles after his famous father helped mastermind the Premier League leaders’ 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup final.
He uploaded the photo montage above and wrote: “WE DID IT!!!! Capital One Cup CHAMPIONS!!!! I was always confident… @johnterry.26 obviously the captain had to score and get man of the match, so happy for everyone that is a Chelsea FAN!!!! This day will stay in my heart for the rest of my life!!!
