Hector Bellerin took to social media on Tuesday night to praise Arsenal’s efforts after the Gunners were knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of Monaco.

Trailing 3-1 from last month’s first leg at Emirates Stadium, Olivier Giroud gave the north London side hope of a famous comeback when he finished high into the net in the 36th minute at Stade Louis II.

Aaron Ramsey then fired home from inside the box in the 79th minute but Arsenal were unable to find the crucial third goal.

The 3-3 aggregate draw sent the Ligue 1 side through to the last eight on away goals as Arsene Wenger’s men were knocked out at the last 16 stage for the fifth successive year.

But Bellerin, who played the full 90 minutes in both legs of the last-16 tie, was proud of the Gunners’ efforts in the second leg, despite their elimination.

Bellerin shared the photo above on his Instagram account and wrote: “We fought until the end. Proud of the team, thanks to everyone for believing in us #COYG.”
