Dejan Lovren took to social media on Monday night to pay tribute to his friend Bafetimbi Gomis after Liverpool sealed a 1-0 victory at Swansea City.

The Liverpool defender was an unused substitute as Jordan Henderson’s goal handed the Reds victory and kept them in the race for Champions League qualification.

The pair played together during their times at Ligue 1 side Lyon – and Lovren was delighted to catch up with Gomis after the final whistle.

The Liverpool man uploaded the photo above of the duo onto his Instagram account and wrote: “Great too see my friend again @bafetimbigomis wish u all the best bro #3points #yesss”

Lovren has been a regular fixture in Liverpool’s first-team since his £20m transfer to Anfield from Southampton last summer.

He has made 20 Premier League appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ men and also featured four times in the group stage of the Champions League.

Lovren signed a four-year contract with the Merseyside outfit last July.

Liverpool’s next game is a clash with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
