Manchester United haven’t had a good week in the media following their FA Cup, but Red Devils striker Robin van Persie provided a positive news story on Thursday.

The Netherlands international, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, presented United fan Mehar with a new wheelchair from the Red Devils players.

Van Persie posted the above photo and wrote: “It was great to meet Mehar today and surprise him with a new wheelchair courtesy of all the players. @manchesterunited”

The 31-year-old striker was unable to help United avoid a 2-1 defeat by his former club Arsenal in their FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford on Monday night.

United captain Wayne Rooney cancelled out Nacho Monreal’s first-half equaliser before former Red Devils man Danny Welbeck scored a 59th-minute winner to seal Arsenal’s place in the FA Cup semi-final.

Van Persie has won just the Premier League title with the 20-time English champions following his controversial £24m switch to United from the north London club in August 2012.
