Federico Fazio has warned Manchester United that Tottenham Hotspur are poised to strike in the race for a top-four finish.

The north London side trail fourth-placed United by three points but can draw level with Louis van Gaal’s side if Spurs triumph at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham have won just two of their last seven games in all competitions, whilst the Red Devils lost 2-1 to Spurs’ derby rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-final on Monday night.

However, Fazio, who moved to Tottenham from Europa League winners Sevilla last summer, is confident that Spurs can secure a return to the Champions League this season.

“We are in a good position to stay in the running for the European places,” Fazio told Tottenham’s website.

“We have a very difficult game at Manchester United next but we are in a good way going into this match and we need to win.”

Tottenham are unbeaten in their past five games against United, including a stalemate at White Hart Lane on Boxing Day.
