But Manchester United starlet James Wilson was left waiting for Michael Carrick’s hand after the midfielder didn’t appear to notice the youngster’s attempt to congratulate him.
Carrick scored United’s second goal in an impressive 3-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford and was brought off by manager Louis van Gaal in the 87th minute.
Wilson then attempted to catch his team-mate’s eye and offer him a handshake as Carrick took his place on the Old Trafford bench.
But the midfielder didn’t see the 19-year-old’s effort as the young striker was left waiting with his hand in the air for what seemed like an eternity.
The victory kept United in the hunt for a top-four finish in the Premier League as goals from Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney sealed the three points.
United’s next game is a trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
