Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard stops to the shake the hand of a young fan with a tribute for the talismanic midfielder

Steven Gerrard was greeted with a touching tribute from a young fan on his return from a hamstring injury at Liberty Stadium on Monday night.

The Liverpool captain went for a jog down the touchline in the first half and spotted a youngster holding up a mock-up of the midfielder’s kit.

Gerrard, who is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season, shook the young boy’s hand before continuing with his warm-up before his introduction in the second half.

Eagled-eye readers will spot that unfortunately the supporter’s spelling of the Liverpool skipper’s name wasn’t quite right.

But the 34-year-old didn’t point out the error to his young admirer, proving that he really is one of the Premier League’s nice guys.

Jordan Henderson scored Liverpool’s winner at Liberty Stadium after Jordi Amat’s clearance was deflected off the midfielder and past Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
