The Argentina international has struggled to produce consistent form for the Red Devils since his big-money switch from Real Madrid to Old Trafford last year.
Di Maria has scored just three goals in 26 appearances for the Red Devils and has failed to hold down a regular starting spot in Louis van Gaal’s first-team due to his stuttering form.
However, the 27-year-old says that he is desperate to improve on his slow first campaign at Old Trafford and write his name into Manchester United folklore.
Di Maria is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: “Adapting to English football is not easy. People told me the first year for a foreigner here is hard. And that’s true.
“My challenge is not for one year, but to become part of the history of Manchester United.
“The stadium is unique, the fans sensational – it is a fantastic club. My only frustration is that we haven’t offered the fans our best face every week. My dream at United is still to win the Premier League and Champions League.”
Di Maria will be hoping to feature when Arsenal travel to United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils need one more win from their remaining two games to secure a top-four finish in Van Gaal’s first season in charge.
