The Chelsea goalkeeper is being linked with a move away from the newly-crowned Premier League champions after having spent most of the second behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Go and break the bank for Cech. Do something positive to get the fans and the season tickets rolling in and everyone wanting to see Arsenal next season
Arsenal are among the clubs touted as potential suitors for the Czech Republic international, although Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is keen to keep the 33-year-old at the west London club.
Former Gunners striker Hartson believes the north London side should break the bank for the four-time Premier League winner, adding that the shot stopper’s signing would keep the Arsenal fans onside.
“They’ve got David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny but Petr Cech is available,” Hartson told talkSPORT.
“Go and break the bank for Cech. Do something positive to get the fans and the season tickets rolling in and everyone wanting to see Arsenal next season.
“They just want big players. They want the best players in the world that are available. Go and make a statement and go after them. I believe there is money there now so to compete and to challenge that’s what they need to do.”
Cech has been forced to watch from the sidelines for most of the season after Thibaut Courtois returned from his loan at Atletico Madrid and claimed the number one spot over the summer.
The Czech goalkeeper has won 12 major trophies during his Stamford Bridge career, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League.
