Don Hutchinson has told Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling to forget about a potential move to Real Madrid in the summer.

The England international is expected to inform Liverpool that he wants to leave the 18-time English champions after a disappointing season for the Merseyside outfit.

Sterling was reported to have rejected an £100,000-a-week offer from the club earlier in the campaign with just two years remaining on his current deal at Anfield.

However, former Liverpool striker Hutchinson claimed that Real Madrid are willing to wait for Sterling to run down his current contract before making a move for the forward in 2017.

Hutchinson, who spent four seasons at Liverpool before he joined West Ham in 1994, added that he would rather have Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie than Sterling in the Reds side.

Sterling has scored seven goals and has made seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances for the five-time European champions this season.
