Louis van Gaal has revealed that he has already identified the goalkeeper that will replace David De Gea if the Manchester United man joins Real Madrid.

The Spain international still hasn’t penned a new deal with the 20-time English champions amid reports Real Madrid are keen to sign the Red Devils goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

We have a list of goalkeepers who can replace him because we have to be organised also, not only for that position but every position

De Gea, who was named in the PFA team of the year in April, was speculated to have agreed a £4m-a-year contract with Los Blancos following their Champions League exit earlier this week.

Although Van Gaal underlined his desire to see De Gea stay put at Old Trafford, the United manager said that the club are already planning for life without the shot stopper.

“We want him to sign but he has to want to stay here at Manchester United,” Van Gaal is quoted as saying at his pre-match media conference ahead of the visit of Arsenal on Sunday. “I don’t know why he has not made the decision.

“We know who already shall be the next goalkeeper. We have a list of goalkeepers who can replace him because we have to be organised also, not only for that position but every position.

“We want him to stay so hopefully he shall sign.”

De Gea won the Premier League title in 2013 after the goalkeeper joined United in a £18m deal from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

The former Los Rojiblancos man has made 158 appearances for United during his four-year stay at the Manchester club.
