Phil Jones says Manchester United want to finish the season with a bang against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have the opportunity to hoist themselves into third place above the Gunners if the hosts can secure victory over Arsene Wenger’s side this weekend.

It’s an important game, and we then have to hope that they drop some points in the last games of the season and we beat Hull as well

United ended a three-game losing run at Selhurst Park last weekend after Maroaune Fellaini scored a 77th-minute winner to seal a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

England defender Jones believes Louis van Gaal’s side are well-prepared for the test against the FA Cup finalists.

“We know they’re a good team,” Jones told MUTV. “We know what they pose, what threats they have, but we’ve worked on it all week in training and we need to win it – it’s our last game at home this season and we want to go out with a bang.”

On their bid to finish in third place ahead of Arsenal, Jones added:

“We need to make sure we beat Arsenal on Sunday,” Jones added. “It’s an important game, and we then have to hope that they drop some points in the last games of the season and we beat Hull as well.”

Jones, who moved to Manchester United from Blackburn Rovers in a £16m deal in 2011, has made 20 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this season.
