Jose Enrique appeared to get the better of Mario Balotleli during Liverpool training at Melwood on Thursday afternoon.

The Spanish left-back has plenty to prove to manager Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool supporters after having spent most of the season on the sidelines with a persistent knee injury.

Similarly, Balotelli has disappointed following a £16m move to the Reds from AC Milan last August, scoring just one goal in 16 Premier League games this season.

The Liverpool defender posted the above photo on his Instagram page, sharing a joke with his team-mate Balotelli after the pair battled for the ball during a session at Melwood training ground.

Enrique posted on Instagram: “To strong for you mi amigo ata legoooo @mb459”

Enrique has played just over 203 minutes of Premier League action this term, making four appearances and starting just two games.

Balotelli, meanwhile, has scored four goals in 26 games in all competitions amid reports linking the former Manchester City man with a return to Serie A in the summer.
