John Bishop appeared to be given the responsibility of keeping Steven Gerrard’s spirits high after an emotional weekend for the Liverpool captain.

The 34-year-old bid Anfield farewell on Saturday evening after the midfielder made his final appearance in front of The Kop as Liverpool lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace.

Gerrard managed to hold it together during his parting speech before the Liverpool skipper posed for a series of photos with his team-mates on the pitch.

The former England man could finally relax on Sunday, and the Reds midfielder went for a game of pool and some grub with his mates, including famous comic Bishop.

Gerrard posted the above snap and wrote on Instagram: “Banter with the top man @johnbish100 ”

The Liverpool captain was unable to prevent the home side losing to Palace on Saturday after Adam Lallana had given the Reds an early first-half lead.
