Louis van Gaal has warned Arsenal that Manchester United will do everything in their power to crank up the pressure in the race for a top-three finish.

The Gunners travel to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon looking to return to winning ways after their surprise 1-0 loss to Swansea City at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table and two points ahead of United heading into Sunday’s game, although Arsene Wenger’s men have played a game less than their rivals.

However, Van Gaal believes that a third-place finish is still a possibility for the Red Devils heading into their final two games of the season.

Van Gaal told MUTV on Friday afternoon: We want to be third – it’s still possible. We can put pressure on Arsenal on Sunday.

“I want to thank the fans with a victory.”

Van Gaal also confirmed on Friday that both Wayne Rooney and Luke Shaw are set to miss Arsenal’s trip to Old Trafford due to injuries both suffered during the win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
