The England striker has been out injured since the end of April due to a minor knee problem but the Arsenal manager has said that the forward could return to the fray ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League trip to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Arsenal manager also revealed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mathieu Debuchy and Mikel Arteta all remain sidelined, while midfielder Aaron Ramsey is yet to return to training ahead of this weekend’s clash.
Wenger told Arsenal’s website on Thursday afternoon: “Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mathieu Debuchy and Mikel Arteta are not ready.
“Danny Welbeck has a little possibility to be fit. Aaron Ramsey is not in training yet but he should be better tomorrow. I don’t think we have any big injuries, maybe Welbeck will be available but at the moment he looks short.
“I don’t know how long the others will be out for, it’s difficult to say, but hopefully they will play again this season.”
Arsenal head to Old Trafford looking to return to winning ways after their surprise 1-0 defeat by Swansea City at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
The north London side are currently third in the table heading into their final three Premier League games of the season.
