The Reds snapped up the Belgium international in a £32.5m deal from Aston Villa earlier this week endings months of speculation linking Liverpool with a move for the Belgium international.
He is a boy that is still improving his game so I don’t think there is any doubt he will fit our tactical idea of the game
And Rodgers is confident that the 24-year-old will prove a vital asset to the Merseyside outfit in the coming season and will complement his fellow attacking players in the Liverpool squad.
“I’ve heard and seen stuff that he won’t fit the style we play but I think he will complement it and help us,” Rodgers told Liverpool Echo.
“He is a big guy but he has got the attributes that I like in terms of pace and movement and he gets all type of goals.
“He is great in the air, strong, can hold the game up and can play on the counter attack. And he can play when the team is deep because he can hold the ball up with his physical strength.
“He is a boy that is still improving his game so I don’t think there is any doubt he will fit our tactical idea of the game. He can be a huge player for us.”
Benteke scored 49 goals in 82 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa after he moved to the Birmingham outfit from Genk in 2012.
The towering Belgian is Liverpool’s seventh signing of the summer and their second most-expensive acquisition in the club’s history.
Rodgers has already signed James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, Nathaniel Clyne, Joe Gomez and Roberto Firmino in the summer transfer window so far.
