Man Utd transfers: Joe Royle questions Paul Pogba’s price tag

Former Man City manager Joe Royle doesn't believe Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is worth £75m

Joe Royle has questioned whether Manchester United target Paul Pogba is worth his reported £70m price tag.

Both Manchester clubs and Barcelona are interested in signing the French midfielder and would have to pay handsomely to secure his signature.

Pogba signed for Juventus in 2012 after leaving United for as little as £800,000 but he is now valued at almost £70m after establishing himself as one of the world’s best midfield players.

Former City and Everton manager Royle, whilst admitting Pogba is a top player, was shocked at the valuation and doesn’t believe he has quite shown the qualities to justify such an extraordinary price tag.

“To be honest I haven’t quite seen a £70million player in Paul Pogba,” Royle told talkSPORT. “I’m amazed about some of the figures.

“There’s no doubt that, if you have Manchester United and Juventus on your CV, then you are top player. But £70m, wow, I haven’t seen that to be honest.”

The Juve midfielder has enjoyed success during his spell in Italy after helping Juve to the domestic double last season as they reached the Champions League final.

Pogba is also a regular for France and won the Young Player of the Tournament award at the 2014 World Cup.
