Three signings to boost Tottenham’s top-four hopes

Katie Falkingham takes a look at three players who could boost Tottenham's hopes of a top-four finish next season

Saido Berahino

Harry Kane needs a right-hand man. West Brom striker Berahino scored 14 goals in the Premier League last season, and with his ever-growing confidence and skill, he is the perfect fit for Spurs. Tottenham are believed to be preparing up a bid of around £15m for the England Under-21 forward, but may have to up their offer as the Baggies attempt to hold on to their star man. West Brom manager Tony Pulis is reportedly wanting to double the 21-year-old’s wage to keep him at The Hawthorns this season, but the appeal of the North London club may be too great for the Burundi-born striker. Berahino and Kane have played together for the England under-21s, and would be keen to work together as a partnership at White Hart Lane. His speed and willingness to take on defenders would compliment Kane’s playing style, making him an ideal signing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Javier Hernandez

The Manchester United man spent last season on loan to Real Madrid, and despite United manager Louis van Gaal recently insisting that the Mexican has a part to play at Old Trafford this season, it is likely that Hernandez will look for a move away this summer. Spurs are reportedly preparing an £8m swoop for the striker as they search for the perfect partner for Kane and they aim for a top-four finish this season. Despite a lack of playing time at the Bernabeu last season, Chicarito still managed seven goals and four assists for the 10-time European Champions, and would bring four years of much-needed Premier League experience to the Spurs attack.

Clinton Njie

The Lyon frontman has caught the attention of a number of top European clubs after scoring eight goals in 33 Ligue 1 appearances for the French club last season, and Spurs have reportedly made a £7m bid for the Cameroon international. Pochettino is keen to bring the 21-year-old – who has been compared to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo by some observers – to White Hart Lane as Spurs push for a Champions League spot this season. Nije has scored six goals in 11 games for his country, and with his ability to play through the middle or on the wing, the highly-rated forward would bring plenty of options to Tottenham as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
