Aaron Ramsey says Arsenal have a new-found belief in the Premier League title race after their thrashing of Manchester United.

The Gunners were emphatic 3-0 winners against their bitter rivals at The Emirates in their final game before the international break courtesy of goals from Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal hoisted themselves above Louis van Gaal’s side and into second place thanks to their comprehensive victory, moving to within two points of leaders Manchester City.

And Ramsey, who was part of the Welsh side that secured their place at Euro 2016 this week, explained why beating United was so significant in the Premier League title race.

“We owed them from a few years ago and the way we started the game was fantastic,” Ramsey is quoted as saying after Wales’s victory over Andorra.

“Hopefully we can continue that now and carry on to beat the bigger teams and carry on our form against the other teams.”

Arsenal have 16 points from a possible 24 after eight games of the Premier League season.

The Gunners have lost to defending champions Chelsea and London rivals West Ham United in the top-flight this season.
