Player ratings as Chelsea struggle to a goalless draw with Dynamo Kyiv

By Tom Phillips

Chelsea

Asmir Begovic Solid goalkeeping performance overall. Denied any chance of Dynamo Kiev taking the lead. 7/10

Kurt Zouma Interesting choice at right-back. Looked shaky as he played wide but was dragged out of position by Gonzalez a few times. 5

Gary Cahill A competent performance at the back but gave Gonzalez opportunities whenever he cut inside from the right-wing. 5

John Terry Read the game extremely and organised the defensive tactics very well. 7

Cesar Azpilicueta (Man of the match) Had the challenge of dealing with Andriy Yarmolenko and did not let him take advantage of his flank. 8

Ramires Too easily affluent from the players around him. If they attack, he thrived in the environment, but whenever they defended, he looked shaky. 5

Nemanja Matic Far more disciplined than in previous games. Kept the ball well and was supportive for most of the game. 7

Eden Hazard Did a lot in the first 30 minutes. Creating chances, long-range shots on goal and won free-kicks in dangerous areas. Afterwards, never really had the same opportunity. 5

Cesc Fabregas Extremely unlucky not to win a penalty earlier on in the game. Glimpses of the man that has been missing since the start of the season. 6

Willian Hit the bar and extremely dangerous on the wing. Never shy to have a shot at goal and but rarely found the target. 7

Diego Costa Very quiet performance from the Brazilian-born striker. Played deep a lot and never caused any problems for Kiev’s defence. 5
