Francis Coquelin praised Arsenal’s tactical approach after helping the Gunners record a famous 2-0 win over Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The French midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Arsene Wenger’s men revived their Champions League hopes with an impressive victory over the Bundesliga side in north London.

After a goalless first half, strikes from substitute Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil wrapped up victory for the Gunners against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Arsenal were forced to show their patient side, as the visitors dominated possession for long spells against the north London side.

And midfielder Coquelin praised Arsenal’s approach to the game after their secured their first Champions League win of the season in the group stage.

Coquelin told Arsenal’s website: “We knew Bayern would have a lot of the ball, but in the recent games against the big teams we have not had as much possession and counter-attacked.

“It worked well again here and everyone defended really well and we didn’t concede any goals, so I am really pleased with the performance.”

He continued: “In the first two games we didn’t perform and we knew we had to win here to stay in the competition.

“We have been doing really well in the league and we had to do that in the Champions League too, and we have done that so we have to carry on in that way.”
