Jamie Carragher believes Adam Lallana has a big role to play in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool revolution.

The Reds midfielder has started both of the German’s opening games in charge of the Merseyside outfit, racking up 171 minutes of first-team action.

Lallana would almost always be taken off first ahead of Coutinho but under Klopp, that could end up turning around. Lallana is a skilful player but his greater stamina may give him a crucial edge

Lallana struggled to make a meaningful impression under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers, often being replaced midway through the second half.

However, former Liverpool defender Carragher reckons Lallana’s days of being prematurely substituted could be over under the new 48-year-old manager.

“He was central to one of the pictures of the week, when falling into Jurgen Klopp’s arms at Tottenham after he was substituted in a state of exhaustion, but the Liverpool midfielder’s performances have been just as striking,” Carragher is quoted as saying by Daily Mail.

“It is going to take time for the new manager’s methods to pay off but Lallana, with his willingness to run hard, looks tailor-made to play a part in Klopp’s revolution and it is interesting to see how much his fortunes have begun to change.

“The alteration, though, is not just down to running. Lallana was Liverpool’s best player against Rubin Kazan and he performed well at White Hart Lane too. He will be aiming to continue in that vein when his former club Southampton arrive at Anfield on Sunday.

“Go back to the summer and when Liverpool signed Roberto Firmino for £29m from Hoffenheim, it looked as if Lallana would become the odd man out as many were wondering how he, Firmino and Philippe Coutinho would be able to play in the same team.

“When Brendan Rodgers was making a substitution, Lallana would almost always be taken off first ahead of Coutinho but under Klopp, that could end up turning around. Lallana is a skilful player but his greater stamina may give him a crucial edge.”

Lallana, 27, has scored two goals in nine appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit.

Both of the midfielder’s goals came in the Europa League, netting in 1-1 draws with Bordeaux and Sion.
