Herrera, who made his return from a knee injury against the Toffees, played 81 minutes on Merseyside and scored one and set up another as Louis van Gaal’s men bounced back from their loss to Arsenal before the international break.
The Spaniard also fired 100 per cent of his shots on target, created two chances for his team-mates and won 100 per cent of his tackles at Goodison Park.
And his compatriot Mata was gushing with praise for Herrera after Saturday’s victory on Merseyside.
Mata wrote on Kicca: “I’m really happy to see my friend Ander Herrera back on the pitch, contributing his class and his ability to score goals.”
He continued: “Everton put again some pressure at the beginning of the second half, but the third goal definitely gave us the three points.
“I think we played a very complete game and, especially, we had a much better start here than against Arsenal in our last Premier League game, because we controlled the ball and played mainly on Everton’s half of the pitch.”
Herrera and Mata will be hoping to feature when United return to Champions League action with a trip to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils will then turn their attentions back to the Premier League and their derby clash with leaders Manchester City next Sunday afternoon.
