Joe Gomez has reassured Liverpool supporters that he will make a swift recovery after his recent injury blow.

The 19-year-old full-back suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in England Under-21 side’s 3-0 victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday night.

Gomez’s Liverpool team-mate Danny Ings succumbed to a serious knee injury in his first training session under new manager Jurgen Klopp after having made his England debut in a 3-0 win against Lithuania on Monday.

The former Charlton Athletic defender took to Instagram to post a message after it emerged Gomez could miss up to six months of the new Premier League season.

Gomez wrote on the photo-sharing app: “Me & @ingstagram10 will be back at it soon. Thanks everyone”

Ings scored Liverpool’s goal in a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby in Brendan Rodgers’s final game in charge of the Reds.
