The former Netherlands international was one of the most-clinical strikers in the Red Devils’s history after he scored a remarkable 150 goals in 249 appearances in all competitions.
However, Van Nistelrooy only won the Premier League once before a falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson led to the former PSV Eindhoven striker’s departure to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
The retired Dutch striker played alongside the likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney during his five years at Old Trafford.
But Nistelrooy named former Republic of Ireland and United captain Keane as his favourite Red Devils player when asked by one supporter on Twitter on Saturday.

Keane paid Van Nistelrooy lip service in his most-recent autobiography, The Second Half, describing the former United striker as the best finisher that the Irishman played with during his career.
“Ruud was the best finisher, ever, but especially in one on one situations, just the keeper to beat. When Ruud was going through one on one, I never doubted him,” Keane said.
“Some players would be going, “******* hell – hard and low? Or dink it over?”, but when Ruud was through there might as well have been no goalkeeper.”
