Tottenham 0 Liverpool 0: Player ratings from White Hart Lane

Player ratings from White Hart Lane as Liverpool are held to a goalless draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane

By Joel Durston

Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris Only had one real save to make – a shot straight at him from Divock Origi. 6/10

Kyle Walker Dealt with the threat of Coutinho reasonably well. 6

Toby Alderweireld Will have harder tests than Origi this season but managed his albeit limited threat capably. 6

Jans Vertonghen Solid and composed at the back. 6

Danny Rose Enjoyed a good, physical battle with James Milner, which ended about even. 6

Moussa Dembélé Very inventive on the ball, even in confined space in the middle of the park, and strong defensively too. 8 (man of the match)

Dele Alli After a slightly loose first 20 minutes, he marshalled the midfield well with Dembélé, but will disappointed not to have done better with a clean shot at goal in the first half. 6

Erik Lamela One of his weaker, fairly anonymous performances which he seemed to have put behind him this season. 5

Christian Eriksen Lively and creative as usual, nearly setting up a late goal for Harry Kane at the end after evading a couple of defenders. 6

Nacer Chadli Went off injured after ten minutes. N/A.

Harry Kane Held the ball up and brought people into the game well, but still looks far from his predatory self last season. For example, put one reasonable chance straight at the keeper in the first half and could have done better with a clean shot at goal with five minutes to go. 6

Substitutes

Clinton N’Jie Played some loose passes, but looked threatening once or twice and brought a great save from Simon Mignolet, although the shot was telegraphed. 6

Andros Townsend N/A

Liverpool

Simon Mignolet Fine fingertip stop from N’Jie and another decent stop from Kane in the first half. 7

Nathaniel Clyne Energetic performance and got forward when possible. 6

Martin Skrtel Bit sloppy at the back, giving away the ball once or twice and getting beaten slightly easier than he should have been in the first half, but tightened things up in the second half. 6

Mamadou Sakho Physical, composed and made a couple of vital blocks. 7

Alberto Moreno Not his most adventurous performance but defended adequately. 6

Emre Can Not always the tighest to Eriksen, but had a decent game. Produced a good long-range at the end which whistled just past the post. 6

Lucas Fairly ineffective – didn’t make much of an impact. 5

James Milner Good duel against Rose. A typical Milner performance – workmanlike but not inspired. 6

Philippe Coutinho Showed good feet several times. Couldn’t really connect with the frontman Origi, but he should have more joy when Daniel Sturridge is fit again. 7

Adam Lallana He’s had far more creative games but made up for it with good tracking back – something which may well be a big aspect of the game for wide men under Jurgen Klopp. 6

Divock Origi Did not do anything wrong per se, but not a performance which puts Sturridge’s place at risk. Often isolated, his only real effort was an average effort straight at the keeper from a slight angle. 5
