Daniel Sturridge capped a perfect Boxing Day for Liverpool after the striker delivered a positive injury update after their 1-0 victory over Leicester City at Anfield.

The Reds forward trained with his team-mates on Christmas Eve ahead of the visit of the Foxes at Anfield on Saturday afternoon but the 26-year-old wasn’t named on Jurgen Klopp’s bench.

Sturridge, who has scored two Premier League goals this season, watched the Merseyside outfit ease to a 1-0 victory thanks to Christian Benteke’s winner from the stands at Anfield.

And the Liverpool forward took to Twitter to congratulates his team-mates on their victory and confirm that he is on the brink of a return to first-team action following his recent hamstring problem.

Sturridge has made just five Premier League appearances this season after an injury-hit campaign for the England striker so far.
