John Barnes is backing Chelsea to win their first game under Guus Hiddink by beating Watford at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.

The Blues are gearing up for their second match since Jose Mourinho’s sacking and welcome the Hornets to west London for the first game of Hiddink’s second interim spell in charge at the club.

Chelsea returned to winning ways following Mourinho’s dismissal last weekend as they secured a 3-1 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.

And former Liverpool striker Barnes is tipping the Blues to win again when they host Watford on Saturday.

Barnes wrote in his blog for Titanbet: “Both sides enter this one with some confidence.

“Chelsea playing with freedom and desire now Jose Mourinho is gone is a poor reflection on some of their players, so this one will be a tight match.

“I think that the home side will have enough, though. The goal-scorers [will be] Diego Costa and Eden Hazard.”

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea after their disastrous run of form left them just a point above the relegation zone following nine defeats in their opening 16 games.

Chelsea will turn their attentions to Monday night’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford after their tie with Watford this weekend.
