The Gunners have been installed as the favourites for the Premier League title after their impressive 2-1 win over Manchester City at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Arsene Wenger’s men, who are currently second in the table and two points behind leaders Leicester City, are aiming to win their first Premier League title since their unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04.
And former Liverpool and Manchester United forward Owen believes that the north London side will have too much for Southampton to cope with on the south coast on Saturday evening.
Owen wrote in his blog for Colossus Bets: “If Southampton don’t buck their ideas up pretty sharpish, they could be dragged into a relegation battle, as they are winless in their last six games and showed disappointingly little when losing 2-0 at home to Tottenham last week. They are struggling for goals.
“And an Arsenal side with their tails up won’t need any second invitation to take advantage of any lack of confidence, so I take the Gunners to win 3-1 at St Mary’s.”
Arsenal secured their place in the last 16 of the Champions League against the odds as they sealed a 3-0 win over Olympiacos earlier this month to book their spot in the knockout state, where they will face Barcelona.
