Jurgen Klopp’s men returned to winning ways at Anfield on Boxing Day as Christian Benteke’s second-half goal handed the Reds victory over the Premier League leaders in front of their home fans.
Liverpool travel to Sunderland on Wednesday night as they look to claim victory over the Black Cats to keep their bid for a top-four finish on track.
And former Reds striker Owen is fully expecting Liverpool to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League against Sunderland.
Owen wrote in his blog for Bet Victor: “After two difficult away games, the Black Cats are back on home soil and will be looking to keep things tight against a Liverpool side who were as bad at Vicarage Road in their last away game as they were good against Leicester in their last home game.
Sunderland have only conceded twice in their four Premier League home games under Sam Allardyce and will need to defend well; the first goal will be key and I think Liverpool will get it.”
Liverpool have claimed impressive away victories against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in recent weeks since Klopp’s appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor in October.
The Reds are currently eighth place in the Premier League and five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
