The Shakhtar Donetsk star has been heavily linked with a January move to Anfield in recent days, although it is believed that Liverpool are yet to agree a fee with the Ukrainian club.
The 26-year-old has revealed that he is close to fellow countryman Philippe Coutinho and would love the chance to play alongside the attacker for the Merseyside club – and also said he hopes a transfer can be pushed through before Monday’s deadline.
Speaking in an interview with Anfield HQ, filmed in the United States where he is on a training camp with Shakhtar, Teixeira said: “I want to be there [Liverpool]. But that is up to the club president now. I can only hope.
“It is frustrating. So now I’m just waiting, trying to be patient.
“I’ve played with Coutinho since we were 10 years old. It would be a lot of fun to play with him again.
“I am always looking to score. I could definitely add an attacking threat, especially if I’m paired with all of the talented players they already have in the squad.”
BBC Sport reports that Liverpool have made a bid of £24.5m for the Brazilian but his Ukrainian club are believed to looking for a fee of around £39m.
Teixeira has scored 22 goals in 15 league games for Shakhtar already this season.
