The north London side returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday thanks to a 4-1 win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane.
The Lilywhites slumped to a 1-0 defeat by high-flying Leicester City in midweek as they suffered a blow to their hopes of winning the title.
Crooks says that he has not been particularly impressed by Spurs’ recent displays but heaped praise on midfielder Cristian Eriksen for stepping up his performances when his side needed it.
Crooks told BBC Sport: “I saw Tottenham on Wednesday night against Leicester City and they were ordinary.
“Against Sunderland they were not much better but the Black Cats are struggling at the foot of the table and it showed.
“Fortunately for Spurs they have the capacity to produce a touch of class on occasions and when they do it’s normally Christian Eriksen who is at the heart of it.
“Whether he scores goals or not (and he got two on this occasion) he’s the sort of footballer fans have no problem paying decent money to see.”
Tottenham, who finished fifth last season, are now gearing up for their FA Cup third-round replay against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.
Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders and bitter local rivals Arsenal after 22 games of the seaso.
