Jamie Carragher has questioned Christian Benteke’s future at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.

The Belgium international was a second-half substitute in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat by Manchester United as Klopp went all-out-attack in search of an equaliser in the final 12 minutes at Anfield.

Benteke was a substitute in Liverpool’s best performances under the new Reds manager as Klopp went without a recognised striker for their victories at Chelsea and Manchester City.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher insisted that Benteke doesn’t fit into Klopp’s plans for Liverpool after his big-money to Merseyside under the manager’s predecessor, Brendan Rodgers.

“All the standout performances under Jurgen Klopp have been without Christian Benteke, he uses Roberto Firmino even though he’s not an out-and-out centre-forward,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“Benteke doesn’t seem to fit in how the manager wants to play. There’s not enough movement.”

Benteke has scored six goals and has made two assists in 19 Premier League games so far this season for the 18-time English champions.

Liverpool made Benteke their second most-expensive signing of all-time after his £32.5m move to Anfield from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
