Christian Eriksen scored either side of half-time as the Tottenham midfielder inspired Spurs to an impressive 4-1 victory over Sunderland at White Hart Lane.

The Denmark international cancelled out Patrick van Aanholt’s 40th-minute opener ahead of half-time before Mousa Dembele edged Spurs into a 2-1 lead with a half hour to play.

Eriksen gave Mauricio Pochettino’s side a two-goal cushion before Harry Kane scored a 79th-minute penalty to seal three points after Wednesday night’s 1-0 loss to Leicester.

Tottenham striker Kane couldn’t hide his delight to find the score sheet and help Mauricio Pochettino’s side return to winning ways in Saturday’s early kick-off:

Argentina international Erik Lamela was pleased Spurs could collect three valuable points in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League:

Eric Dier provided the assist for Eriksen’s second goal and the England international was pleased with a great confidence boost ahead of Wednesday’s FA Cup third-round replay at Leicester City:
